Barcelona Spain

Another joyous experience of driving in rush hour traffic, while trying to weave our way around a giant parade to get to our Couchsurfing host. Eventually we found Eliana's apartment in a great part of Barcelona and were pleasantly surprised with our own room to sleep in for the next three nights.

Our first stop was to Guell Park, a playground for architect Antoni Guadi, Barcelona's pride and joy. A place where he showcased his unique and individualistic designs.

Bird Nest:

Something out of the Flintstones.

Can you find me?

A slice of Barcelona from Guell Park.

The whole thing.
(Better if clicked on)

Looking across the park.

The serpentine bench from afar

Gaudi's mosaic serpentine bench

Gingerbread Houses

Great musician.

Eliana's living room.

Casa Milà (Gaudi)

I like pics with birds inflight.

Plaça Catalunya

Buskers on La Rambla street. It's like begging with costumes on....at least they are trying right?

HA! A dog with a scarf on. After I took this picture the dog gave me a piece of his mind. I'm guessing he said something like "What are looking at? Do you think I dressed myself like an idiot today?....Go talk to that guy with spiky hair sipping on his espresso inside"

So in Spain they don't celebrate Christmas on the 25th. Instead they celebrate Los Reyes (Three Kings Day) on the 6th of January. Instead of Santa, the Three Kings bring presents to all the children. Makes more sense than Santa to me.

Couldn't miss this

Some of this is a little too abstract for me, but still intriguing to see his talent.

Beautiful day in Ciutadella Park

Note the air born dog in the background.

Apparently in the 1800's building an Arc de Triomphe was the cool thing to do.

A fitting game for Spain. Emily's depressing look was due to my generous gift of two draw 4 cards in a row. ¡Toma!

Sagrada Familia: Guadi's final masterpiece. Started in 1883, it has been an ongoing project and is scheduled to be finished in 2026.

Grand in scale.

Dusk beach scene.

Last dinner with our awesome host Eliana, her awesome friend Sergi, my awesome fiance Emily, and your awesomeness.

A little taste of home on our return to Lugano....
