Segovia and Salamanca Spain

After a few days in Madrid we rented a car and headed northwest for a quick stop in Segovia.

Segovia is a small city with a big attraction. This aqueduct was built in the 1st century by the Romans and is one of the most significant and best-preserved Roman monuments on the Iberian peninsula. The total length of the aqueduct is ~ 10 miles long.

Back on the road and heading to Salamanca for the night.

Early morning in Salamanca's Plaza Mayor

Our favorite bar in Salamanca.

This bar had tons of flare and character (much better than TGIFridays).

The Spain sampler.

Heading towards the huge Cathedral.

This Cathedral was built in the 12th century and was far to big to fit in one shot.

By now I have seen a lot of cathedrals and this is one of the biggest.

I think you could base jump from the transept, as it measures close to 100 feet tall.

The green hills of Portugal.

So as our gas light went on we entrusted our GPS to find us the next station....does this look right? Due to the heavy rains the last few days this dirt road turned into a lake so we had to back track with our gage reading empty and got stuck twice. Needless to say this could have been really bad, but.....

We found a pump as we rolled in on fumes.
