Sevilla Spain

After 5 hour drive from Lisbon we arrived in Sevilla and located our next couchsurfing hosts. It was a bit of a challenge to communicate being that my Spanish sucks and their English was so-so. Either way they were very nice college students that made us some tasty late night Spanish omelette's.

Carmen dying Alba's hair pink.

Browsing the Old Town square and the main Cathedral.

I would have much rather taken this carriage around the old town streets rather than squeezing our rental car through the labyrinth of narrow one way streets on New Years Eve Day.

A great place to relax.

I think these were the Spanish beer girls or maybe they were New Year's entertainment. It took Emily a while to get use to the pig legs hanging from every ceiling.

Relaxing in Plaza de Espana. Each colorful tile booth artfully depicts a defining moment in Spanish history for each city.

Beautiful ceramic bridge at Plaza de Espana.

Looking forward to our last stop in Barcelona.

Catedral de Santa MarĂa de la Sede on New Years Eve night.

Heading into the New Year's chaos in front of the Town Hall

With 10 minutes to go things were starting to get crazy.

Video of the chaos.

It is Spanish tradition to eat 12 grapes in 12 seconds at the stroke of midnight on the New Year. The seeds inside slowed me up a bit.

Champagne was sprayed all over the place when the New Year hit. Apparently it was expected because nobody got upset at the fact that they were covered in it. I think if this happened in the states you might get a fist in your face.

Hugs and kisses all around.

The Town Hall aftermath.

We then headed across the river to the bar scene.

It looked like an orange but tasted like a lemon. I'll come back in April.

Late night fried deliciousness.

The next morning we woke up to the sound of these Spaniards still going strong, singing songs, and dancing. The moment they knew we were Americans they started singing a broken versions of any American jingle they knew...HILARIOUS!

Enjoying breakfast on the roof of our hostel before we head to Granada.
